Every year on 14th June, countries around the world celebrate blood donor day. The event established serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and to thank blood donors for their voluntary life saving gift of blood. World blood donor day is one of eight official global public health campaigns marked by World Health Organization (WHO). This date coincides with the birth anniversary of Karl Landsteiner, who discovered blood groups.  
On the occasion of World Blood Donor’s Day, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized in the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Subharti Dental College & Hospital on 14th June 2017. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Nikhil Srivastava (Principal, SDC&H), Dr Devendra Swaroop (Blood  Bank incharge) and all the  other HOD’s of respective Department. The Blood donation camp was a huge success as 127 volunteers including Faculty Members, P.G. Students, Interns, U.G. Students and Non-teaching Staff donated blood. All the volunteers will be presented with certificates of appreciation and Blood Donor’s card.
Dr. Mayur Kaushik (O.I.C., Dept. Public Health Dentistry), Dr. Swaroop (In-Charge, Blood Bank, Subharti Hospital, Meerut),  Dr Shivanjali Grover ,Dr. Meetika Pahuja, Dr. Sanchit Pradhan, Dr. Nimit, and Dr. Syed Mohd. Akif contributed towards the success of the event.
