Lapel day for the Batch of 2014 BDS celebrated
The clinico initiation day of BDS third year (2014 Batch) is celebrated each year to mark the transition of these students from the pre-clinical studies to a clinical setting. These students till now had been working on models or dummies, who neither have emotions nor a tendency to react to harsh handling. But this day onwards, these students start working on live patients, patients-who are sensitive, emotional and reactive who need special skills and behavior to be handled with.
Traditions make cultures and we are fortunate to be a part of Subharti family, where traditions are held in high esteem. One such tradition is the 'Lapel Day' which is a sacred ceremony. The day marks the entry of BDS IIIrd Year students to the clinics. The ceremony involved the official handing over the lapel pin to the students. The students took the oath to maintain the sanctity of their profession. Along with the Lapel Day, white coat ceremony was also conducted. The shorter white coat or lab coats that these students had been wearing till now will give way to longer coats, wearing which they will enter the clinics and practice. Wearing this coat comes with the great responsibility of maintaining integrity, heartfelt compassion and professionalism in all that they do.
The white coats received on this day distinguish these students for who they are now, sources of pride for their families and as men and women who will carry forward the finest traditions of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Mukti Bhatnagar, Founder, Subharti Institutions, Dr. N. K. Ahuja, Vice Chancellor, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University and Dr. Nikhil Srivastava, Principal, Subharti Dental College.
