Department’s Mission

• Our mission is to acquire state of the art diagnostic facilities under one roof so as to equip the learner with sound methodological information and dexterity to reach out to the needy and underprivileged while applying ethical principles in all facets of practice, professional sincerity and veracity so as to ensure higher proficiency in wide-ranging areas.
• The department strives to deliver the patient care irrespective of societal status, social order, faith or religious conviction of the patient.

About The Department
Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology represents the confluence of the basic sciences and clinical dentistry. Through the science of Oral Pathology, an attempt is made to correlate human biology with the signs and symptoms of human disease.

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology is located on the third floor of Subharti Dental College & Hospital, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Subharti Dental College, Subharti University, Meerut. The department is well equipped with a practical laboratory for the undergraduate students, a seminar room for the postgraduates and undergraduate students, a museum displaying various specimens of Dental Anatomy and Oral Pathology and, departmental library, research room and histopathology lab.

The department has been certified with GOOD LABORATORY PRACTICE (ISR/GLP/1246) on 12.01.2021 issued by International Standards Registrations. The histopathology lab has a semi automatic microtome, automatic tissue processor and is well equipped for routine as well as special staining procedures. In addition to our histopathology lab, we also have a complete clinical laboratory set up for routine and advanced laboratory investigations. Our research lab consists of a research microscope with fluorescence attachment, polarizing attachment, phase contrast and dark field illumination attachments with a good photomicrography setup and an image analyzer software. The department is equipped with a penta head microscope which is used for teaching and discussion for the postgraduates and undergraduates.

Salient Features Of The Department
The Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Oral Microbiology laboratory accepts biopsy and surgical tissue specimens for histopathological evaluation and diagnosis from other dental departments. We undertake diagnostic procedures such as routine hematological investigations, punch biopsies, Fine needle aspiration cytology, and Exfoliative cytology. The department has a fully functional Immunohistochemical laboratory, Microbiological laboratory and separate special stain lab for postgraduate students. The department also serves as a resource for research projects undertaken by other postgraduates and faculty of the College. We have a fully functional and well equipped Oral Precancer/Cancer detection Centre for screening precancerous and cancerous lesions by trained dental personnel.
