Report of Guest Lecture
A guest lecture on “Clinical Diagnostic to Molecular Diagnostics” was conducted for post-graduate students and faculties of Subharti Dental College & Hospital on 17th July 2024. Guest speaker Dr. Dax Abraham (Professor & Head Manav Rachna Dental College, Faridabad), enlightened the audience by his lecture on Biomarkers for diagnosis of pulpal diseases. The lecture was conducted at LT-4, from 8:30 am. The event was organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Subharti Dental College & Hospital. A total of 127 (48 faculty members and 79 post-graduate students) attended the lecture and learned the use of biomarkers for diagnosis of pulpal disease. Queries of the students were addressed after the session. The guest speaker was felicitated with a sapling and a certificate for his gracious presence and talk.
VALUE ADDED COURSE REPORT
A value added course was organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics under the guidance of Dr. Nikhil Srivastava Principal, Subharti Dental College and Hospital and Dr. Vineeta Nikhil HOD Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics for the Undergraduates (Interns and Final year) on the topic “Reconstruction of the tooth – POST and CORE.”
A total of 17 undergraduate students participated in the value added course held from 20 May to 23 May 2024. In the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics.
The lectures were delivered by the COURSE COORDINATOR Dr. Shikha Jaiswal (Professor), Dr. Astha Agrawal and Dr. Aparna Rai (Assistant Professor). Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.
Demonstrations for fibre post preparations, surface treatment, cementation and core build up were given followed by hands on by all participants on extracted teeth under the guidance of Dr. Shikha Jaiswal. Demonstration and hands on was conducted in the pre clinical Jot of the department.
Certification of participation was awarded to the students by the Head of the Department and faculty members. Students were awarded for the best hands on exercise done.
All the participants enhanced their knowledge and skills by interactive sessions and hands on. Pre and post assessment was done and feedback was taken by the students after completion of the course.
World Oral Health Day Celebration on 28th March – 2024
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics and Department of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, Subharti Dental College & Hospital Collectively organized a Walkathon on 28th March 2024 to celebrate “World Oral Health Day”.
The motive of the Walkathon was to create awareness about oral health & instill the importance of healthy tooth brushing habits. This 45 min walkathon was flagged off at Subharti Dental College by our respected Principal & Dean Dr. Nikhil Srivastava Sir.
The walk commenced at Dental College and proceded towards Medical College, Nursing College & Dayanand Bhawan. At Dayanand Bhawan dental check ups of residents were done by Dr. Tushar and his team in the Subharti Dental Mobile van.
The Walkathon saw an active participation from students of BDS 3rd year, Post Graduates of both the departments & faculty members. Total of 87 students and 11 faculties graced the occasion with their enthusiastic presence.
Celebration of Cons- Endo Week during 5th to 12th March – 2024
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Subharti Dental College & Hospital celebrated CONS-ENDO WEEK from 5th March to 12th March 2024. During this week various activities were organized & conducted like – Yoga session for undergraduates, post graduates & faculty members. Followed by Best Access Opening competition for 1st MDS Students & Best Clinical Case Presentation by 2nd & 3rd year MDS students. PALS (Public Awareness Lecture Series) along with Nukkad Natak on “SAVE NATURAL DENTITION AND AVOID EXTRACTION” was conducted at Sardhana, Meerut by Dr. Astha Agrawal and final year BDS students. During this week 50 % Concession was given to patients for all the procedures in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics.
World Endodontic Day Celebration on 16th October 2023
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Subharti Dental College & Hospital celebrated World Endodontic Day on 16th October 2023.
This day was utilized to make public aware about root canal treatment and its advantages over extraction and about saving natural tooth. Various activities were organized by department eg.
- Awareness regarding endodontic procedures on Azad Hind 90.0 FM by Dr. Vineeta Nikhil (Head of Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Subharti Dental College, Meerut) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
- Public awareness and lecture series and dental checkup and treatment camp by Dr. S.S. Rathi and Dr. Astha Agrawal at Khiwai Villagen Meerut. More than 70 patients were examined and motivated to undergo root canal treatment and 30 patients were treated.
- Public awareness booth was established at different location and awareness related to the speciality & its scope was carried out by Dr. Vineeta Nikhil, Dr. Sachin Gupta, Dr. Shikha Jaiswal, Dr. Padmanabh Jha, Dr. Preeti Mishra, Dr. Sonal Sahu, Dr. Rudhra Koul and distribution of tooth paste was done at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut
- 50 % reduction in treatment charges for endodontic procedures like root canal treatment, vital pulp therapy and endodontic surgeries.
Report of CDE “Digital Smile Designing” on 6th July 2023
A CDE on Digital Smile Designing on 6th July 2023 was conducted. The guest speaker Dr. Neeraj S. Rohida from Mumbai, who also developed software for digital smile designing (DTS) emphasized on DSD which is a technical tool used to design and modify the smile of patients digitally. A huge delegation of 92 people involved Head of Department, Faculty & PG’s from other institutions, as well as from Subharti Dental College. The organizing chairperson Dr. Vineeta Nikhil and organizing Secretary Dr. Sachin Gupta with their hard working team contributed towards success of programme. A one day UG CDE Program on Direct Veneers was conducted for UG students of Subharti Dental College & Hospital on 28th March 2023. The guest speaker of the day was Dr. Abhinay Agarwal who enlightened the students on the concepts of esthetics and direct composite veneers. The lecture followed by demonstration, Hands on course for all the participants was conducted. The event was organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in association with Department of Peadiatric& Preventive Dentistry. A total of 69 students participated in the course and learned clinical tips to ease the problems encountered during direct composite veneers.
Guest lecture on Extirpate to Extricate – The new pulpal reality by Dr. Ruchika Roongta on 15.03.2023
A guest lecture on “Extirpate to Extricate – The new pulpal reality” was conducted for post-graduate students and faculties of Subharti Dental College & Hospital on 15th March 2023. Guest speaker Dr. Ruchika Roongta (Professor MAMC, New Delhi), enlightened the audience with his clinical cases and her lecture on vital pulp therapy. The event was organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics. A total of 102 (40 faculty members and 62 post-graduate students) attended the lecture and learned the clinical aspects of vital pulp therapy into clinical practice.

The guest speaker, Dr Viresh Chopra, an alumni from the first batch of MDS program of Subharti Dental College and Hospital, shared his views on the topic, “Failure is not the end of the world- Let’s Retreat”. This session was live on social media sites like “Facebook” and “Youtube” and was attended by 172 participants. Dental Camp for social awareness on 10.04.2021
Dental camp and Public awareness lecture series was organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics.
Dental Camp was held in Gadhwaal Sabha Police lines Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on 10.04.2021. A 30 minute Public awareness lecture was presented by Dr. Vineeta Nikhil followed by general interaction of patients to clarify their queries. Due to COVID – Pandemic no patient were examined. Tooth paste sample was complementary to participating patients.

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics conducted a lecture on the topic “Charade Concealed Façade” for IIIrd year and IVth year undergraduate students by inviting one of their own MDS alumni, Dr. Marisha Bhandari. The lecture was organized for 159 students and Dr. Marisha emphasized on the importance of esthetics and discussed in detail about the challenges for selecting and executing direct composite veneers.

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics organized a guest lecture by Dr. Vivek Aggarwal on the topic “Understanding citations and references” for Post graduate students. Dr. Vivek discussed various referencing systems and citations and their importance during publications.

Total 03 Dental camps were organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in association with the Department of Public Health Dentistry.
First Camp was held in village Satwai A 30 minute Public awareness lecture was presented by Dr. Preeti Mishra followed by general interaction of patients with Dr. Nitin Salonia. In the camp total no. of 68 patients were examined out of which 27 patients were treated on spot. All the procedures and patients examinations were performed by the post graduates of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics which included Dr. Shalini Rai and Dr. Harleen Kaur. They were well assisted by Interns Dr. Pooja, Dr. Aafreen, Dr. Kamini and Dr. Divyanshi. Rest all patients were refers to be Subharti Dental College & Hospital for further treatment. Second Camp was conducted in village Tikri. A 45 minute lecture was presented by Dr. Isha Sajjanhar she also interacted with patients to clarify patients queries. Tooth paste sample was complementary to participating patients. In the camp total no. of 78 patients were examined out of which 15 patients were treated on spot. Various dental procedures performed were ultrasonic scaling for 12 patients, Temporary filling for 02 & GIC restoration for 01 patients. All the procedures and patients examinations were performed by the post graduates of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics namely Dr. Aishwarya Sinha and Dr. Esha Agarwal. They were assisted by Interns Dr. Priya, Dr. Prerna & Firdosh. Rest all patients were refer to be Subharti Dental College & Hospital for further treatment. Third Camp was held in village Bhola Jhal. A 45 minute lecture on oral hygiene majors, caries and its prevention was given by Dr. Padmanabh Jha followed by general question asked to student and tooth paste samples were distributed. In the camp patients were examined and treated on spot. All the procedures and patients examinations were performed by the post graduates of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics which included Dr. Nupur & Dr. Bhawna They were assisted by Interns Dr. Shubham, Dr. Prerna & Firdosh. Patients requesting further treatment were referred to be Subharti Dental College & Hospital.

CDE Programme on “Resurrecting function from & Esthetic: The Phoenix Effect: (06th August 2019)
Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Subharti Dental College organized a CDE on Endo-Esthetics on 6th August 2019. The guest speakers Dr. Atul Bhatnagar and Dr. Nikhil Bahuguna emphasized on capturing the lost vertical dimensions and rehabilitation of mutilated dentition to enhance the treatment outcome and improve patient smile. The full day programme was started with the Maa Saraswati Vandana and involved lecture and demonstration by the invited faculty. A huge delegation of 141 people attended the event. The delegates involved head of department and faculty from other institutions, post graduate student and interns from Subharti Dental College. Guest Lecture for post graduates by Dr. Ajay Logani

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics organised a guest lecture on 13.03.2019 on the topic “Cracked Tooth- An Enigma That Can Crack You”. The lecture was delivered by guest speaker Dr.Ajay Logani, Professor and Head, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Centre of Dental Education and Research, AIIMS, New Delhi. Dr. Logani presented his cases & shared his research work on the prevalence, incidence and diagnosis of cracked tooth. He also shared his views and the ongoing research on the management of cracked tooth. He stressed that cracked tooth is a multidisciplinary enigma affecting almost all the specialties of dentistry. The seminar was attended by faculty and post graduates from all the departments of Subharti Dental College.

Dental Camp for social awareness on 2.3.19, 14.3.19 & 19.3.19
Total 04 Dental camps were organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics.
First was in the College of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University on 02.0.3.2019. In this camp 45 minute public awareness lectures was conducted by Dr. Sana Ali followed by general interaction queries of students were replied and tooth paste samples were distributed. Patients wre educated and motivated for taking oral hygiene measures. Total no. of 75 patients examined in the camp were referred to the Subharti Dental College for treatment.
Second Camp was held in village Jangethi A 45 minute lecture was presented by Dr. Preeti Mishra followed by general interaction of patients with Dr. Sonal Agarwal. Tooth paste samples were distributed and prizes were given to most participating patients. In the camp total no. of 73 patients were examined out of which 39 patients were treated on spot. Various dental procedures were performed which included ultrasonic scaling for 29 patients and fillings of carious teeth in 18 patients. All the procedures and patients examinations were performed by the post graduates of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics which included Dr. Naina and Dr. Arvind. They were well assisted by Interns Dr. Ponit Baja and Dr. Mohd. Faizal. Rest all patients were refer to be Subharti Dental College & Hospital for further treatment.
Third Camp was conducted in village Tikri. A 45 minute lecture was presented by Dr. Isha Sajjanhar she also interacted with patients to clarify patients queries. Tooth paste sample was complementary to participating patients. In the camp total no. of 78 patients were examined out of which 15 patients were treated on spot. Various dental procedures performed were ultrasonic scaling for 12 patients, Temporary filling for 02 & GIC restoration for 01 patients. All the procedures and patients examinations were performed by the post graduates of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics namely Dr. Siddharth and Dr.Janvi. They were assisted by Interns Dr. Priya, Dr. Prerna & Firdosh. Rest all patients were refer to be Subharti Dental College & Hospital for further treatment.
Forth Camp was held in village Bhola Jhal. A 45 minute lecture on oral hygiene majors, caries and its prevention was given by Dr. Padmanabh Jha followed by general question asked to student and tooth paste samples were distributed. In the camp patients were examined and treated on spot. All the procedures and patients examinations were performed by the post graduates of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics which included Dr. Nupur & Dr. Bhawna They were assisted by Interns Dr. Shubham, Dr. Prerna & Firdosh. Patients requesting further treatment were referred to be Subharti Dental College & Hospital.
The entire camp was coordinated by Dr. Preeti Mishra under guidance of Dr. Vineeta Nikhil from the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics. Banner & necessary materials were provided by the Department of Public Health Dentistry.

Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics organized a CDE on the topic “Endo Esthetics: Beyond Books”. The CDE consisted of 2 lectures and a hands on programme. Guest speaker Dr. Vivek Hedge lectured on the topic of magnification in endodontics while Dr. Mohan B discussed the art and science of composites and conducted a hands on workshop. The CDE was attended by approx 200 delegates.
