Department’s Mission
We aim to impart evidence based Orthodontic education along with overall personality development of the students so that they may become an ideal orthodontist and good human being.
About The Department
The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Subharti was established in 1998 with the goal of imparting advanced education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Since its inception, it has been an epitome of excellence in teaching & patient care.
The post graduation, in the specialty, was started in 2004 and currently has an intake of 6 seats per year. Eleven batches have successfully cleared the master program till date. The faculty and students have read numerous research papers at national orthodontics conventions & conferences.
Salient Features Of The Department
The department has a well furnished library that includes almost all the national and international journals available in the specialty. Training program of postgraduates includes regular sessions of pre-clinical, clinical work, seminars, journal clubs and case discussions. The department provides pre and post-surgical orthodontic treatment to Orthognathic surgery cases along with management of cleft lip/ palate patients. The department is one of the few in India where training in standard edgewise technique, said to be the master of all techniques, is imparted to the students.
Training to Postgraduate residents are given for Standard Edgewise, Preadjusted Edgewise, Tip-Edge, Lingual, Fixed Functional, Self-Ligating Appliances along with latest Clear Aligners based on CAD-CAM Technology.
Along with the conventional methods, Latest digital Cephalometric software (Nemoceph and Eazyceph) are routinely utilized by the postgraduates for diagnosis and treatment planning. The department recorded an average number of 50 patients daily (excluding covid lockdown period) in the OPD during Apr 2020- Mar 2021.
